2 weeks ago, this mature gentleman found himself in need of coming into Rescue. Although 11 years old, he is a very much young at heart bouvier who has endured a lot on his life, but still loves people, other canines, daily walks and has a great sense of humor. Arlo lost his left eye years ago to Glaucoma, but his remaining eye is doing great. Arthritis has settled in his bones, and stairs would be hard for him. But whoever meets this gentle giant, ( 27 at the withers) is instantly smitten by his funny antics and his love for people. A good diet, supplements and regular exercise have made the difference already. He is also a talker and will not only announce every visitor and then great them at the door, but he will let you know if needs a door opened, its dinner time or if his foster siblings rough housing too much or up to mischief. Beside his tired bones, the vet thinks that Arlo is in good health and has some decent years ahead of him, his heart and lungs are great. Truly a creed to his breed , Arlo would make an excellent companion for an older person, and he adores children, especially little girls. He seems mesmerized by them, and will follow the granddaughters of his foster home like he is their personal bodyguard. For more information on Arlo, please e-mail Dagi Henry at henryhouse@satx.rr.com or call 210-691-3403

Hello my name is Bella, I am the most beautiful shortest Bouvier you have ever seen. I am a 1 ½ year old bouvier mix; brindle in color with natural ears and a docked tail. My papa was a dachshund. I grew up with small children and I love everybody - kids, people, and other dogs. I have a pleasant disposition, am happy and playful, my tail wags constantly! And I am young, so I love to play with toys, too! I grew up in a loving but very busy household, did I mention the small children? They just didnt have enough time for me and wanted me to have a home where I got more attention. And more training! They just let me out the door to do my duties and I came right back in, so I have no idea how to walk on a leash. I'm willing to learn, but someone has to take the time to teach me. And you might have to explain about tables. The kids dropped so much food (just for me!) and left so much food sitting on the coffee table (just for me!) that I am now finding out this is not true in every household. But I am willing to learn, and my foster mom is doing just that - explaining the rules about well mannered dogs. I have so much love to give, won't you consider adding me to your family? I am UTD on shots, currently weigh in at 50 lbs., heartworm negative but need to be spayed before going to my new home. Applicants must have a physically fenced in yard – no electronic fences. They must also agree to enroll Bella in an obedience course with a local trainer near them. The approved applicant must meet and pick up Bella at her foster home – she can not be flown. She is being fostered in Morrisville, PA. Questions may be directed to Dale Anne Shaffchick, das3901@comcast.net or 215-489-0204.

Bouviers Name:    Brent
Sex: Male
Age: @ 1 year old
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Ears Cropped: No
Tail Docked: No
  Comments:

Just full of life is this sweet boy that recently came over from West Virginia. Surrendered to a shelter by his owner we have no idea why. He is a youngster probably around 1 year old, maybe younger. He absolutely loves his toys, and also enjoys playing Frisbee and ball with his human friends. Brent is a medium sized male bouv mix with natural ears and a tail that definitely shows how happy he is to have been sprung. Foster mom notes he so loves being petted and talked to. Brent has gotten along with the foster family's two dogs so far and will be introduced to more 4 legged friends during his time with the family. Brent appears to be crate trained but needs work in the leash department and also to attend obedience classes. He's very athletic and probably would enjoy agility, biking or jogging with his new owner. He rode very well tethered in the vehicle during transport. Unfortunately when turned into the shelter his coat was full of matts so we had the vet clinic shave him down to start growing a new coat. Brent has been vetted --- he weighed in at 51 lbs. and can stand a few more lbs.; he is neutered, heartworm neg., UTD on shots, and is microchipped. Brent needs a physically fenced in yard and the selected adopter must agree to take him to obedience classes. Currently being fostered in Philadelphia, PA. Please go to www.bouvier.org to fill out an application. Any questions may be directed to Dale Anne Shaffchick at das3901@comcast.net or phone her at 215-489-0204.

Bouviers Name:    Diva -- Adoption Pending
Sex: Female
Age: 1 year
Spayed/Neutered: No
Ears Cropped: Yes
Tail Docked: Yes
  Comments:

Hi my name is Diva and the word literally means goddess, need I say more? You may think I am a bit fussy because of my name, but it just suits me, down to my "gold" collar! I am a petite lady of 50 pounds or so and am only a year old. I am black brindle and have perky cropped ears and a docked tail, and I am, if I do say so myself, LOTS of fun… I have plenty of energy and would enjoy doing agility or just going with you on LONG walks or even be your best jogging partner--you know "we" divas like to stay fit!

I have a very handsome brother named Dash, short for "Dashing.” You can see his bio here, too. Because we are so young, we do not have to be placed together, but we do like the company of other Bouviers.

One thing I personally can't stand though is cats (you other Bouvs know what I mean), they are sooo f-e-l-i-n-e, but they are so much fun to chase (just another way I stay in such gorgeous physical shape), and I don't think Dash likes them either!

Unlike some of the other poor "unfortunate" Florida Bouviers, we came from a very loving home where we were cherished and adored, but due to family illness it was necessary for us to find another wonderful home like the one we just left--ahhh parting was such sweet sorrow! We both will be altered before adoption and will be current on all our shots. I think it would be fun too if we went to a training class, as we would enjoy strutting our stuff in front of those other dogs!

Please go to bouvier.org to fill out an application for either me or for Dash. You can call Terry Minda at (561)793-4017 or email her at: bgtmrjm1@webtv.net, just say you are interested in "Darling Diva" or "Debonaire Dash." We are currently being fostered in Gainesville Florida.

Hi my name is Nika and in Greek that means "Victory", I am victorious because I was scheduled to be euthanized but a very nice veterinarian in the area who works closely with my shelter in Tampa saw what a nice girl I am and put her name on me to save me. She then contacted a few rescues because she was not sure what kind of dog I am, she called Otterhound rescue first, but they said I was a Bouvier or a Bouvier mix, so she then contacted ABRL to save me! Boy was I relieved when I heard I was going into rescue-- "whew" that was a pretty close call! Now let me tell you about myself I am a big bodacious girl weighing 85 pounds, I am energetic and young about 2 years old, have lovely natural ears and tail. While at the shelter they did all kind of stuff to me, they did something called "spay" gave me vaccinations, tested me for heartworm and I was negative (another "whew"), and even did a test for my temperament, I could have told you I was a "good girl" but I guess now I have a diploma! I was at the shelter for over a week so I am ready to go to my forever home! Please go to: bouvier.org and fill out an application for me! I am currently being fostered in St. Petersburg Florida, if you have any questions contact Terry Minda at (561)793-4017 or email her at: bgtmrjm1@webtv.net We can have lots of fun and get lots of exercise on nice long walks together, I'd sure love that!

Bouviers Name:    Phoebe
Sex: Female
Age: 2.5 years
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Ears Cropped: Yes
Tail Docked: Yes
  Comments:

I’m one of the lucky ones. My family could no longer keep me, so they called ABRL rather than turn me in to a shelter. But for the past year of my short 2.5 years of life, I lived outside. I really wanted to be indoors with my people, and wore a path from the left side of the yard to the right, trying to find a way to get to them.

I am a small black purebred Bouvier with cropped ears and a docked tail. I weigh about 69 pounds right now, but like a lot of us, could stand to lose a few pounds. I’m currently in foster care with a nice lady and her two young Bouviers. I love to play with the boy because he’s close to my age. My foster Mom thinks we would play all day and all night if she let us. I adore the girl from afar because she is a princess and pretends I don’t exist or grumbles if I get too close. One day soon I will be as beautiful as she, as evidenced by my “after” makeover photo you see here.

I walk well on leash, and know basic cues like sit, down, and wait, and am learning more, such as leave it. I sometimes gently mouth when I’m excited and being pet, so I’m learning how not to do that, too. I’m very smart and want a home with people who will include me in their lives, do activities with me, and take me to a fun training class. I am typically happy and well-behaved and love praise and petting, but can be a little shy, aloof and a little afraid with new people, though if you give me a small piece of cheese or two, I make friends quickly. I’m crate and house trained, and ride nicely in the car. I adore playing ball, which is great exercise and good for helping train me, too. I should do OK living with another dog, but I’ve never lived with cats. I like children, but it’s probably best that I go to a home with no young children because I have never lived with any of those, either. I’m heartworm negative, up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, micro-chipped and ready to begin my life anew.

Phoebe is being fostered in Georgia. To be considered, fill out an application at www.bouvier.org. For more information, contact Lisa Rodier-Yun at rodieryun@comcast.net or 770-521-8690. Phoebe will not be flown.

Bouviers Name:    Sussie -- Adoption Pending
Sex: Female
Age: 1.5 years
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Ears Cropped: No
Tail Docked: Yes
  Comments:

Sussie is a 1.5 year old female. She is a high energy girl and is very affectionate. She is playful with other dogs and is friendly with people, but is a tiny bit shy. She bonds well with people after she gets to know them. She will need some additional training.

Sussie was well cared for in her previous home and was a surrender because the owner simply did not have enough time for her. As Sussie bonds well with people, any adopter must integrate her fully into their family.

The adopter must agree to put Sussie through at least basic obedience training and must have a good fenced yard. I think she would do best with a younger dog as a buddy as she is playful.

Please go to http://bouvier.org/ABRL/rescue.html to fill out an adoption application. For any questions about Sussie, contact Len Gaska at gaska@nilenet.com or (303) 604-2875.

Bouviers Name:    Tess
Sex: Female
Age: 3 years
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Ears Cropped: Yes
Tail Docked: Yes
  Comments:

Tess recently was surrendered to rescue by her owner. She is a very nice brindle, docked and cropped female. She is 3 years old -- DOB is 3/16/05. Fully vetted, spayed and weighs @ 58 lbs., she is also microchipped. She rides beautifully in vehicles. Tess is very easy to walk but would still advise caution until you really know her. Her leash is slack and she does not pull when they have encountered rabbits, squirrels, etc. on their long 1-2 mile walks. Foster home reports she has been an excellent house guest. She is very calm in the house. She has slowed down while eating. Her vocabulary has expanded since entering foster care the current commands she knows are, leave it, sit, down, shake and crawl. Tess is very gentle. They have met several dogs and she's fine with some and not good with others -- she had previously lived with a 6 year old Corgi but she does need more socialization skills for when she encounters new dogs. Tess and her foster dad have enrolled in a group obedience class which meets once a week in order to work on these skills. Tess was surrendered due to killing the neighbor's cat so her new home may not have cats. Applicants must have a physically fenced yard. They also must attend obedience classes with her. If interested please fill out an application at www.bouvier.org before inquiring about her. The approved adopter must meet her at the foster home. to take her home. She is being fostered in Mechanicsburg, PA Any questions may be directed to Dale Anne Shaffchick at das3901@comcast.net or at 215-489-0204.
